Virat Kohli video calls Anushka Sharma after PBKS match
After playing a special knock at M Chinnaswamy Stadium against Punjab Kings, Virat Kohli called his wife Anushka Sharma and was spotted sending a flying kiss to her. The photo of the same went viral on social media.
Virat Kohli adjudged POTM:
"It's been going on for years (love story with fans at Chinnaswamy). People talk about a lot of other things when you play sport - achievement, stats, numbers. But when you look back it's the memories you create. The love, appreciation and backing I've received has been amazing. I try to give the team a blazing start, but if wickets fall you have to assess. Wasn't the usual flat pitch. Disappointed I couldn't finish the game. Was in the slot but sliced it to deep point. They know I play the cover drive well, so they're not going to allow me to hit gaps. You have to come up with a game plan here and there. I know my name is now attached to just promoting the game in different parts of the world when it comes to T20 cricket. I've still got it I guess. Just to feel normal for two months - for me, my family - it was a surreal experience. Couldn't have been more grateful to God for the opportunity to spend time with the family. It's an amazing experience to just be another person on the road and not be recognised. That's the promise I can give here - I'll keep turning up and keep trying me best," Kohli said.
Winning skipper Faf du Plessis said:
"On the outside, not as much on the inside (was he calm?). Early in the competition you want to make sure you get over the line. Felt we were in the position to do that sooner. WIth the new rule, we knew we had Mahipal coming in - has lot of power. Now with the extra batter you feel like even 14-15 rpo is gettable. Really pleased for him (DK). I said it the other night - really important for him to get his IPL going with confidence. There's obviously a plan - from the auction - to find some sort of DNA. It is a unique ground. Even tonight the pitch was a bit different. Virat was important on that pitch. He's still enjoying himself, very passionate about playing cricket. Fresh and motivated to do well," Faf said.
Here's what Dinesh Karthik said after the match:
"Little bit (dusting off the rustiness). I wasn't completely in control but getting there. We needed that (knock from Lomror), Anuj batted well last time but when Mahipal walked out.. he took the pressure off me. He (Harshal) is a wily customer, he has the dipping slower one and if you missed that you are a goner, I had to wait to play the scoop. I didn't say anything, he (Lomror) was calm and when he hit that six, I just told him to keep a still head. If I start bowling then you can know what the situation would be for RCB," Karthik said.
Losing skipper Shikhar Dhawan said:
"It was a good game, we brought the game back and again we lost it. We scored 10-15 runs less, in the first six overs I played a bit slow. Those 10-15 runs cost us and the dropped catch as well. (Turning point) Virat scored 70-odd runs and we dropped a catch of the class player, we paid the price. If we had taken that catch, the momentum would have come from the second ball. But we lost the momentum over there and then we paid the price for that. It looked good but it wasn't a very true wicket, it was stopping, bit of double bounce and turned as well. 70% coming good, 30% it was doing a bit. I am happy with my runs but I thought I could have played a bit more fast in the first six overs, that's the only thing I felt. We lost wickets as well, we lost two wickets continuously and that put pressure on us. At the end, that's the total we thought on this wicket. The match went till the last over, at the end also we could have bowled well. He's bowling really well, especially bowling against left-handers, tremendous the way he soaked in the pressure and got us the breakthroughs," Dhawan said
DINESH KARTHIK, YOU FREAK!
DINESH KARTHIK WON IT FOR RCB IN SOME STYLE. The wicketkeeper-batter smashed 28 runs off 10 deliveries to win it for RCB. UNREAL STUFF. Some player! RCB defeated PBKS by four wickets as they registered their maiden win in IPL 2024.
13 runs were scored on the penultimate over
Brilliant over for RCB as 10 runs are now needed in the final over of the game. Who do you reckon will have the last laugh in Chinnaswamy?
13 runs off the over
RCB are 154/6 after 18 overs. 23 runs now needed to win in 12 balls.
WHAT A HIT!
Mahipal Lomror dismissed the ball to the stands. Massive six. 92-metre six against Arshdeep Singh. RCB are smelling victory now!
11 runs and a wicket
RCB are well and truly in the contest. They are 141/6 after 17 overs. The hosts now need 36 runs to win off 18 deliveries.
Virat Kohli's dismissal:
IMPACT SUB ALERT!
Mahipal Lomror replaces Yash Dayal and comes out to bat.
ANUJ RAWAT DEPARTS
Sam Curran picked up the important wicket of Anuj Rawat, as the youngster walked back to the pavilion after scoring 11 runs off 13 deliveries. Pressure is building on the hosts as they find themselves in a difficult situation. 130/6
Well..
SPOT ON!

RCB got off to a terrible start, suffering a six-wicket defeat in their opening fixture against defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK). On the other hand, Punjab, led by Shikhar Dhawan, secured a win over Delhi Capitals (DC) by four wickets in their season opener.
There were concerns after RCB's star-studded line-up faltered against the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side. RCB's ace Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell departed for a golden duck, shortly followed by Rajat Patidar, who was dismissed without a run after facing three balls.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and Cameron Green who attempted to steady the innings were also dismissed before the team could reach 80 runs. However, the Faf du Plessis-led side exhibited an excellent show beyond their prominent players as Anuj Rawat's quick 25-ball 48, along with a steady 95-run partnership with Dinesh Karthik (38*), propelled them to a total of 173 runs. Nevertheless, it was insufficient against CSK's formidable squad. Having said that, Bengaluru are likely to make some alterations as they seek their first win in the ongoing tournament.
Starting with a win, PBKS are unlikely to make changes in their line-up. However, considering a potential batting-friendly pitch at Chinnaswamy, Punjab might consider swapping Shashank Singh for Prabhsimran Singh. In their clash against Rishabh Pant and Co., the English duo of Sam Curran (63) and Liam Livingstone (38*) shone with the bat, complemented by Arshdeep Singh and Harshal Patel's two wickets each in pursuit of the 175-run target. In addition, PBKS expects significant contributions from Kagiso Rabada and Jonny Bairstow to heighten their performance.
PBKS hold the advantage over RCB, having won 17 out of 31 games, while RCB emerged victorious only on 14 occasions. With both teams boasting significant names in their squad, the upcoming clash promises to be a gripping encounter.
