For Lucknow Super Giants to remain in the race to qualify for the playoffs of the IPL 2024, they have no other choice than to defeat Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on May 17. The KL Rahul-led side started the season well but as time passed, they failed to keep up with the momentum and in the last couple of matches, things slightly went out of hand.
After their horrendous defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad, LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka was spotted having an animated chat with skipper Rahul and in the following game, they lost to Delhi Capitals, which only complicated the situation. Currently, they have 12 points from 13 matches, and they need a massive victory to turn things around. LSG are far behind in the NRR race as well, which only complicates the situation.

For Mumbai, their final match in the season is all about pride. There are multiple reports of the dressing room being broken into two halves but in the final league game, which could potentially be the last match for a few cricketers in Mumbai jersey, the team would be desperate to end it with a win nonetheless. They are currently at the bottom of the table and with a win, they can change their position but also depends on how Punjab Kings (PBKS) fair against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
