The host team Sunrisers Hyderabad endured the early onslaught by Rajasthan Royals bowlers to score 201 from their 20 overs. It was Pat Cummins who won the toss and chose to bat first as Marco Jansen came in for his 1st appearance of the season.

Avesh Khan and Sandeep Sharma had the hosts in early trouble with the wickets of Abhishek Sharma and Anmolpreet Singh. The home team then found themselves back in the game thanks to fifties by Travis Head and Nitish Reddy while Klassen scored a quick 42 off 19 balls.

Rajasthan Royals: 50 runs off 4.5 overs

Bhuvneshwar Kumar got the home team off to a good start with the wickets of Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson out for no score. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag then started the fight back as they took the SRH bowlers to the cleaners. Pat Cummins was guilty of dropping Yashasvi Jaiswal when he was batting on 7.

Powerplay: Overs 0.1 to 6 and first strategic time-out(Mandatory – 60/2)

It was Riyan Parag who decided to fight fire with fire as he hit Bhuvneshwar Kumar for 15 runs in the 3rd over of the innings. The young batter also hit T Natarajan for a few fours in the over before the powerplay ended.

Rajasthan Royals: 100 runs from 10 overs

The two wickets from the first over was the only joy the home team bowlers had as the visitors took a firm grip on the game. Both Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal didn’t let the scoring chances go as they hit boundaries at will.

Half-Century: Yashasvi Jaiswal from 30 balls

The century against Mumbai Indians seems to have given Yashasvi Jaiswal the confidence. With a four in the first ball of the 11th over off Shahbaz Ahmed, the young Royals opened reached yet another IPL fifty.

Half-Century: Riyan Parag from 31 balls

In the same over that Yashasvi Jaiswal got to his fifty, Riyan Parag too scored his half-century. The young batter was the one who led the charge once with the bat once his team was under pressure.

Rajasthan Royals: 150 runs from 14.3 overs

T Natarajan got the big wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal when the young batter was bowled while trying to play a scoop shot. Riyan Parag kept the run scoring going with two sixes to take the Royals past the 150 mark inside the 15th over.

End of the match: Rajasthan Royals: 200/7 from 20 overs

The wicket of Riyan Parag seemed to change the game as there were wickets falling at regular intervals. With 13 runs needed from six balls, it was Rovman Powell who did the star turn to make it 2 needed from one ball. Bhuvneshwar Kumar though got the wicket of the last ball as SRH won the game by 1 run.
