Ramandeep Singh of the Kolkata Knight Riders has been fined 20 per cent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Match 60 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Mumbai Indians at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on May 11.

Ramandeep committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.20 of the IPL Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding.

Talking about Ramandeep's performance in the match, the right-hander played a handy unbeaten knock of 17 off eight balls to take KKR to a total of 157. The team again put up a good show at their home ground. After losing the toss and batting first, they were rocked by the early wickets of their openers in the first seven balls of the match. However, Venkatesh Iyer (42 off 21), Nitish Rana (33 off 23), Andre Russell (24 off 14), and Rinku Singh (20 off 12) propelled the innings forward at different stages to post a competitive total on the board. For Mumbai Indians, Bumrah (2/39) and Chawla (2/28) were the standout bowlers.

In response, MI got off to a good start, scoring 65 runs off 6.4 overs before Ishan Kishan (40 off 22) fell to Narine. Soon after, Rohit Sharma (19 off 24) followed suit with Varun Chakravarthy dismissing him with some smart bowling. The MI innings started to do go downhill from here as the spinners started to take control of the match. A big letdown for MI was Suryakumar from whom the team had high expectations in the situation. He was not able to get away and score freely, finishing his innings with 11 runs off 14 balls.

Tilak Varma (32 off 17) along with Naman Dhir (17 off 6) provided a glimmer of hope towards the end, but their wickets MI's hopes came crashing down as they finished at 139/8, losing the match by 18 runs.
