Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) registered their second consecutive win of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) with a 28-run victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Tuesday, April 02 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. After being put in to bat first, LSG posted a good score of 181/5 in their allotted 20 overs with Quinton de Kock and Nicholas Pooran starring with the bat.

In reply, RCB were bundled out for 153 in 19.4 overs with Mahipal Lomror being the top scorer with 33 (13). For LSG, Naveen-ul-Haq (2/25) and Mayank Yadav shone with the ball to help their team register the second win of the season. Following their win, Lucknow climbed to the fourth spot on the points table with two wins from three games while RCB slipped to the ninth spot with just two points from four matches.

1. Quinton de Kock gets LSG off to a great start

The Lucknow Super Giants opener came out with a clear intent of taking on the bowlers as he got involved in a quick-fire 53-run stand with KL Rahul (20 off 14) off 33 balls. After losing his partner, the southpaw continued his mayhem and played a magnificent knock of 81 off 56 balls with the help of eight fours and five sixes.

2. Nicholas Pooran rips apart Lucknowโ€™s bowling

The southpaw played a blistering knock of 40* (21) with the help of one four and five sixes in his innings as he propelled Lucknowโ€™s total past 180. Pooran was batting on 8 (9) at the end of 18 overs when he decided to take on Reece Topley in the 19th over and smacked him for three consecutive sixes one of which travelled a whopping 106 metres and went out of the stadium. He further took on Mohammed Siraj in the last over smashing him for back-to-back sixes.

3. Mayank Yadavโ€™s thunderbolts rattle RCB

The 21-year-old pace sensation once again shone with the ball as he picked second consecutive fifer of the season. Yadav came on to bowl the fifth over of the innings and got the big wicket of Glenn Maxwell (0 off 2) in his first over. He further shattered Cameron Greenโ€™s stumps with a ripper in his next over and also registered the fastest ball of the season clocking 156.7 km/h. He further dismissed Rajat Patidar to register figures of 3/14 in four overs.
