Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya’s first visit to their home ground Wankhede Stadium after being appointed as skipper, didn’t turn out to be memorable as he was once again subjected to hostile crowd behaviour against Rajasthan Royals on Monday, April 01. The all-rounder was welcomed with loud boos at the toss prompting commentator Sanjay Manjrekar to ask the crowd to behave.
The animosity at the venue intensified as Pandya failed to rescue Mumbai’s innings after they were reduced to 20/4 after 3.3 overs and got dismissed for 34 (21). Just when he thought things couldn’t get worse, Pandya ended up dropping Jos Buttler at covers during the fourth over as deafening ‘boos’ engulfed the Wankhede stadium.

Seeing the distasteful crowd behaviour subjected to his replacement, former MI captain Rohit Sharma came to his rescue and urged the fans to calm down gesturing with his hands while fielding on the boundary.
