Punjab Kings find themselves in quite a complex situation in the ongoing season of the IPL (Indian Premier League). Having played eight games in the tournament so far, Punjab have managed to win twice and lose the remaining six games. They find themselves in ninth place in the points table as well.

Their lack of good performances could be attributed to the absence of regular skipper Shikhar Dhawan. The veteran batter injured himself ahead of PBKS’ clash against Rajasthan Royals on April 13 and has been out of action since, with Sam Curran leading the side.

Ahead of Punjab Kings’ upcoming game, the side’s spin bowling coach, Sunil Joshi, came forward to provide an update on Dhawan’s injury situation, even revealing that the opener could be fit for the side’s upcoming game against Kolkata Knight Riders.

"Shikhar Dhawan was injured on the ground, we miss his batting services. He is on the road to recovery. We saw him batting at the nets. Hopefully, he is in the recovery process and will be fit for the next game," Joshi was quoted as saying by IndiaToday.

Our focus is to rise again: Joshi

Furthermore, Sunil Joshi talked about the plan for PBKS for the upcoming games of the season. The coach opined that every team goes through wins and losses, but they are completely focused on registering some wins and making their way up the points table.

"It's important to understand that any team will go through wins and losses. Our focus is to rise again. This is a short format of the game, where you might get hit for a six on the best ball or you get a wicket on a loose ball," Joshi said.

"It depends on how you prepare your body for the day of the game and how mentally relaxed you are. Every time you face the stress of performing, your body may not fire. You have to calm down and play one ball at a time," he added.
