IPL 2024: Shimron Hetmyer's screamer sends Piyush Chawla packing during MI vs RR fixture
Mumbai Indians sent Piyush Chawla up the order after early collapse.
The Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) has treated the fans with some breathtaking cricketing action in the first 14 matches as they’ve got to witness some incredible moments on the pitch. From stupendous hitting to sensational catches, the 17th edition of the T20 extravaganza has seen it all so far. It was no different on Monday, April 01 as Shimron Hetmyer further lit up the competition with another marvellous catch during Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals clash at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
After being put in to bat first, MI were put in a spot of bother by Rajasthan’s seamers as they were reduced to 20/4 after 3.3 overs. The collapse forced the management to experiment with their batting order and they promoted Piyush Chawla in at number seven. However, the experimentation didn’t prove to be fruitful for the five-time champions as the southpaw was dismissed cheaply (3 off 6) in the 12th over courtesy of a brilliant catch by Shimron Hetmyer at point.

On the first ball of the over bowled by Avesh Khan, Chawla hit the ball in the air which was travelling from the right of point. Hetmyer, who was stationed at the fielding position, quickly moved to his right and jumped to his full height to complete a screamer. As a result, MI lost their sixth wicket with just 83 runs on the board in 11.1 overs.
