Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are about to take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Match 12 of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. KKR captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and invited the power-packed RCB batting to bat first on the surface. However, what caught the attention of fans at the toss was KKR skipper forgot his playing XI for the game.
Upon being asked by the commentator Ravi Shastri about his team’s playing combination, Iyer failed to recall the changes and after a slight pause revealed that Anukul Roy had been brought into the side. The KKR captain seemed flummoxed out in the middle juggling through the two team sheets.

KKR benches Nitish Rana
The team management also decided to rest their last season’s skipper Nitish Rana and handed the debut cap to 18-year-old batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi. Notably, Rana didn’t have a memorable outing in the season opener as he scored just 9 (11).
Apart from Rana, Suyash Sharma was another notable absentee from the starting XI of the side, however, the wrist spinner has been included as impact substitute. Sharma, who rose to the limelight with his stupendous bowling show in the 2023 season, gave away 18 runs in two overs. Meanwhile, RCB didn’t make any changes to their playing XI.
