PBKS spin bowling coach Sunil Joshi addressed the injury of Shikhar Dhawan in the press conference ahead of the game against MI. Joshi said that the medical team is working on the rehab of the star batter and would update the management in case of improvements.
The former Indian cricketer backed the stand-in skipper Sam Curran to do the job for the side. Joshi claimed that Curran did a good job in the last season in the absence of the experienced player.
"As far as an update on Shikhar Dhawan is concerned, the medical team will assess the situation and inform us. Now, he is in rehab," said Joshi as quoted by India Today.
"Sam Curran has been donning the Captain's hat for us in his absence. He was also the stand-in captain last year when Dhawan was injured, and he led the side well. So, we trust him completely," added Sunil in his statement.
Sanjay Bangar had claimed that Dhawan would be out of action for about 7-10 days after the southpaw picked up an injury during the game against RR. The PBKS batting coach confirmed Curran to be the stand-in skipper of the side. In their upcoming match, PBKS will face MI in Mullanpur. The former Indian spinner felt that the home side could have a bit of an advantage due to the nature of the wicket.
Our bowling unit is doing consistently well in all areas: Sunil Joshi
Joshi felt that batters win matches and the bowlers win tournaments and added that PBKS has been doing well as a bowling unit in all phases. He felt that the batters needed to make use of the powerplay overs. "Bowlers win tournaments, batters win matches. Our bowling unit is doing consistently well in all areas. We have addressed that our top-order needs to bat well in the powerplay overs," the PBKS coach added.
Joshi feels that the home team has an advantage as the wicket is challenging for the batters, especially visitors. He concluded by saying that PBKS might have an advantage due to the unique bounce. "But this is a challenging wicket for all batters, especially for the visitors, because the nature of bounce is completely different from all other surfaces. It gives us an advantage on this surface," Joshi concluded
