Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl first as Mumbai Indians look to win the last few games of the season. Both sides made a change as Anshul Kambhoj made his IPL debut while Mayank Agarwal made his return to the team.

Sunrisers Hyderabad began the day in the 4th spot in the IPL table with 12 points from 10 games. If they win on Monday they will move into the 3rd spot which is being held by defending champions Chennai Super Kings.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: 50 runs off 4.5 overs

Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head came out in their usual style and played crisp shots to get the game going. Anshul Kamboj who debuted for SRH against MI on Monday seemed to have got Travis Head bowled two no-balls instead and both were hit for fours to bring the 50 up.

Powerplay: Overs 0.1 to 6 and First Strategic Time-Out (Mandatory – 56/1)

Jasprit Bumrah who is the leading bowler of IPL 2024, finally got Mumbai Indians its wicket. Abhishek Sharma tried to glide the ball to the third man only for Ishan Kishan to take a sharp catch.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: 100 runs from 12.4 overs

Mumbai Indians for once held their own and continued to put pressure on the SRH batters. Piyush Chawla took two wickets including the big wickets of Travis Head and Heinrich Klassen to dent the visitors further.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Second Strategic time-out (120/5 from 15 overs)

Marco Jansen and Shahbaz Ahmed batted sedately as they nullified the threat from the MI bowlers. Just before the second time-out, Marco Jansen hit Piyush Chawla for a six and followed it up with a four to signal his intent.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: 150 runs from 18.2 overs

Pat Cummins and Sanvir Singh who came out as the impact player took SRH past 150 in the 19th over. The IPL 2016 winners had come up against a determined Mumbai Indians bowling unit who weren’t giving away easy runs, unlike their last encounter.

End of the innings: Sunrisers Hyderabad -173/8 from 20 overs

For a team that has made scoring 200-plus scores a regular habit, Sunrisers Hyderabad would have been disappointed with the performance. Apart from Travis Head none of the batters could put up a fight against an inspired-looking Mumbai Indians bowling unit.
