Some sumptuous battles are awaiting for the fans in the ongoing IPL 2024 with the playoffs inching closer. Hence, every game has become like a cut-throat see-saw battle as per the IPL points table. This essentially means that one team's loss or win can decide the fate of the four top teams in the coming days ahead. Moreover, rain will be another key factor in keeping things interesting to the core.

On Thursday, May 16, hosts Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will square off against Gujarat Titans (GT), at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad, to seal their berth for the playoffs round. GT will now play for their pride after getting ousted from the playoffs race. But they will surely want to crash the party for some teams whose fate can change in quick succession. In the same vein, rain has yet again become the talk of the city with the threat of the game getting washed out looking large for tonight's clash.

Meanwhile, apart from rains, pitch is another big debate which comes into account naturally. So far SRH have had a runfest in their den in the ongoing season and hence a high-scoring affair is quite possible. However, it will be interesting to see how the batters approach a rain-marred game where keeping the DLS method also plays its part in deciding the outcome of the game.

Speaking of the IPL points table, SRH will not fret over the result of tonight's game if it ends up in a washout. The key reason is that they have 14 points to their name from 12 games while placed in the fourth spot. Now the biggest debate for discussion is what will happen if SRH versus GT IPL 2024 clash gets abandoned.

SRH vs GT Weather Forecast

Now regarding the weather conditions building up in the mesmerizing city of Hyderabad, earlier the city's Municipal Corporation had taken to their social media to provide some vital updates regarding the possibility of rain.

“Heavy rainfall is expected today in Hyderabad city. Till 6 pm there is a break in rainfall today and may resume after 6 pm. Citizens may plan their travel accordingly,” the Director Of Enforcement, Vigilance and Disaster Management of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation tweeted on their 'X' handle.

Besides, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted that there will be thunderstorms along with moderate to light showers in the evening and night in areas of Kukatpally, Charminar, Khairatabad, and Secunderabad zones.

What will happen if MI vs LSG game is washed out?

Taking up the possibilities of tonight's IPL 2024 match, if rains play the villain again and force a no result, in that case, both the teams will share a point each. As a result, Sunrisers Hyderabad will collect 15 points and that will be sufficient to advance to the playoffs. In such a case, only CSK are in a position to leapfrog SRH.

Besides, the teams who are still fighting out for the qualification are- Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, respectively. Notably, only two teams so far have almost ensured that they have made it through to the playoffs stage. These teams are none other than the table topper Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals. Additionally, it has been now revealed that the rains may play spoilsport in the upcoming IPL 2024 fixture between RCB and CSK as well.
