However, the spinner was not able to cement his place in the Lucknow Super Giants team and was dropped without any reason. The team management should have backed the player since he was doing the hard yards by bowling in the powerplay and delivering at a good economy. The player was also the second most expensive buy for the franchise in the auction and should have played a lot more matches.</p>

<p>There were barely any concerns in the playing XI of the Rajasthan Royals despite their struggles in the second half of the tournament. One issue might have been the dipping performances of Ravichandran Ashwin and RR could have opted for Tanush Kotian instead of him. The latter played two games when Jos Buttler was injured and impressed everyone with his exploits. It was a great opportunity to try out the youngster when the franchise had a comfortable advantage at the top of the table. This would have been a win-win situation for both the team as well as the player if the franchise would have given a chance.</p>

<p>There was a lot of talk prior to the start of the tournament when Mumbai Indians decided to replace Dilshan Madushanka with 17-year-old Kwena Maphaka. His debut came in the high-scoring encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad and even though he got a wicket, his economy was very poor. The South African Under-19 pacer started only two games but should have been given a longer rope by the franchise since he has the potential to deliver on the big stage.</p>

With Mustafizur Rahman and Matheesha Pathirana unavailable for the second half of the tournament, the franchise should have given a chance to Under-19 World Cup winner Rajvardhan Hangargekar. The pacer had a great 2023 season despite playing only two games, he was able to scalp three wickets at a decent economy. Amidst the problems in the pace attack, the team management should have opted for the young pacer to show his ability against the top teams of the tournament.</p>

<p>First of all, credit should go to the Delhi Capitals management as they signed Gulbadin Naib to be the replacement for Mitchell Marsh, who had to withdraw midway through the tournament due to some personal reasons. To find a like-to-like replacement was difficult but Gulbadin Naib could have fulfilled the void of the Australian captain. However, the team management decided to try him only for a few games and at a position he might not be comfortable with. His bowling is also one of his strengths which was surely underutilized during those two matches.</p>

However, the team management could have given a shot at Chetan Sakariya, who has been a great player in previous editions of the tournament. When Mitchell Starc had to sit out due to a finger injury, Sakariya seemed to be the perfect replacement for him but the franchise decided to use Dushmantha Chameera. A chance to Sakariya would have been great for his confidence as well as to improve bench strength for the latter half of the tournament.</p>

With the absence of Mohammed Shami hampering the team all season long, they should have tried Joshua Little for a fair few matches.
