IPL 2024: Team-wise one player who was underused

DC : Gulbadin Naib

First of all, credit should go to the Delhi Capitals management as they signed Gulbadin Naib to be the replacement for Mitchell Marsh, who had to withdraw midway through the tournament due to some personal reasons. To find a like-to-like replacement was difficult but Gulbadin Naib could have fulfilled the void of the Australian captain. However, the team management decided to try him only for a few games and at a position he might not be comfortable with. His bowling is also one of his strengths which was surely underutilized during those two matches.

KKR : Chetan Sakariya

Given the great squad depth of the Kolkata Knight Riders and their belief in sticking with the winning formula, the squad players didn't stand a high chance of making it to the playing XI. However, the team management could have given a shot at Chetan Sakariya, who has been a great player in previous editions of the tournament. When Mitchell Starc had to sit out due to a finger injury, Sakariya seemed to be the perfect replacement for him but the franchise decided to use Dushmantha Chameera. A chance to Sakariya would have been great for his confidence as well as to improve bench strength for the latter half of the tournament.
