IPL 2025: All-rounder Tanush Kotian joins Punjab Kings as net bowler
Tanush Kotian was unsold in the 2025 IPL mega auction ahead of the tournament despite promising performances in domestic cricket.
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be hosting the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the upcoming game, and there is already a lot of preparation being made for the upcoming game, which will take place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The Punjab Kings have invited a familiar face from the domestic circuit, the Mumbai all-rounder - Tanush Kotian. The 26-year-old is a capable off-spinner and a handy batter down the order who has been giving consistent performances in domestic cricket. The young cricketer has recently joined the team as a net bowler ahead of the clash against the defending champions. The Kings already have a variety of spinners in Yuzvendra Chahal, Harpreet Brar, and Praveen Dubey. The off-spinners from Kotian will add more variety to the team's needs and will also help them against the world-class spin attack of the Knight Riders.
There are many reasons why Kotian has found his way into the side which could be due to presence of some big players from Mumbai within the PBKS squad which includes Shreyas Iyer and Musheer Khan who have also played a lot of cricket this season with Kotian. This is a great opportunity for Kotian who unfortunately went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction despite his promising performances in domestic circuit. The all-rounder has previously played for Rajasthan Royals and was also a part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 squad.
Kotian’s domestic record
Speaking of Kotian’s time in domestic cricket, he has played 37 First-Class matches and 21 List-A games as well. He has taken 112 wickets in the red-ball format and 22 wickets in 50-over cricket. He scored over 300+ runs and took 23 wickets in the last Ranji season.
He has a decent record in T20s as well, where he has taken 33 wickets at an average of 20.03 and has an economy of only 6.39. It is safe to say that Kotian has had a promising career so far, and there will be people hoping that he gets a game in the biggest T20 franchise tournament in the world.
