Munaf Patel, Bowling Coach, Delhi Capitals has been fined 25 per cent of his match fees and has also accumulated One Demerit Point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Wednesday.

Munaf Patel admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.20 - which pertains to the conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game - and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction.

For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.

Despite the heavy penalty, Munaf may not be completely disappointed, as his team's bowlers were outstanding in the thrilling tied match against Rajasthan Royals. First, Delhi Capitals did not let the Rajasthan batters get past their score from the first innings, resulting in a tied game. Later, pacer Mitchell Starc delivered a match-winning Super Over, giving away only 11 runs during his turn, which was chased down with a ball to spare by the hosts.

Just backed my execution: Mitchell Starc

Starc, who took only one wicket in the original innings, was awarded Player of the Match, for his controlled bowling and disciplined line and lengths. The Australian pacer was also applauded for his accurate yorkers, especially towards the death, which didn't allow easy coming of runs for the Sanju Samson-led side.

Axar Patel's hilarious take on nail-biting Super Over win

"[On the final over] Just backed my execution. Run in with a clear plan and try to execute it. Sometimes it doesn't come off, today it did. [Did he think about changing his plan?] I've played long enough that everyone knows what I'm going to do. You can play that over ten more times and do ten different things, and it can go different ways. [On the Super Over] I got away with a couple there (his no-ball). [On the team atmosphere] It's a good mix of youth and experience. Axar is leading nicely and we have Faf and KL and Stubbs who have been around for a while. Kuldeep has been fantastic. And success helps and tonight will definitely help," Starc said at the post-match presentation.
