Delhi Capital toppled Lucknow Super Giants by one wicket at Visakhapatnam on March 24 in the first nail-biter of IPL 2025. Chasing a target of 210, Ashutosh Sharma played the innings of his life, smashing an unbeaten 66 off 31 balls to pull off an unbelievable win for his side with three balls to spare.
Earlier, LSG posted 209/8, thanks Nicholas Pooran's 75 off 30 and Mitchell Marsh's 72 off 36. The duo’s 87-run partnership had put LSG on course of an even bigger total, but Mitchell Starc (3/42) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/20) triggered a collapse, restricting them to 209.
DC’s chase got off to a poor start, losing three wickets inside two overs. However, Vipraj Nigam’s 39 off 15 balls provided some hope before Ashutosh took the game away from LSG. His fearless batting and finishing took DC home.
Key Moments from Match 4 of IPL 2025:
1. Marsh-Pooran's crucial stand
Lucknow Super Giants were on the spot to hammer a massive total, courtesy of Nicholas Pooran (75 off 30) and Mitchell Marsh (72 off 36) wreaking havoc. Their partnership had LSG eyeing a 220-plus total, but Delhi Capitals stopped them with a flurry of wickets and some disciplined bowling.

2. Ashutosh Sharma single-handedly takes DC to win
Ashutosh Sharma played a sensational knock to guide the Capitals to a one-wicket win. After losing wickets in quick succession, the side was in trouble. However, Ashutosh’s unbeaten 66 off 31 balls turned the game on its head. With five runs needed from four balls, he hammered Shahbaz Ahmed for a six, guiding his team to a victory in style. Ashutosh’s knock, laced with five fours and five sixes, not only bailed DC out of trouble but also ensured a dream start to their IPL 2025 campaign.

3. Starc, Kuldeep share five wickets between them
Mitchell Starc and Kuldeep Yadav delivered crucial spells that kept LSG in the backfoot. The duo shared five wickets, helping the side get back into the game. Starc's moment of brilliance came when he dismissed Nicholas Pooran. Starc bowled a perfect inswinging yorker, which crashed onto the stumps. This was the fourth time Starc had dismissed Pooran in six T20s. His other two victims were Shahbaz Ahmed and Ravi Bishnoi.

Kuldeep, on the other hand, was DC’s most economical bowler. He took 2/20 in four overs, dismissing Rishabh Pant and Ayush Badoni. Notably, Kuldeep has now dismissed Pant three times in as many IPL innings.
