Former West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, now the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) addressed a press conference following their loss to Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 2025 IPL. The right-arm bowler emphasised that the key message to the players is to stay positive and maintain a forward-thinking mindset.

The two-time Purple Cap-winner admitted in the press conference that it is still early in the tournament and that KKR is not the only team to have lost two games and won one. Bravo addressed the importance of trusting instincts and skills while also respecting the opposition. The former West Indies international acknowledged that the oppositions have done their homework and urged his team to recognise this and adapt to the gameplay accordingly.

“The message to the players is to be positive and have that mentality going forward. It is still early stages and we are not the only team to have lost 2 games and won 1. It is important to trust our instincts and trust our skills. We respect the opposition and their players but it is important for our players to understand that the opposition has also done their homework,” Bravo said in the pre-match press conference in Kolkata, as quoted by Revsportz.

When asked about Anrich Nortje’s fitness, the former right-handed batter stated that the team physio would have a better understanding of the South African pacer’s condition ahead of the game. The mentor emphasised the need to manage team combinations upon his return and admitted that the bowler is close to being ready for the game.

“Nortje is the fastest in our group. The physio will have a better idea on how close he is to match fitness. He is close but it also depends on our combination. He's almost ready to go,” he added further.
