The cricketer admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction.
Pacer Ishant Sharma of Gujarat Titans has been fined 25 per cent of his match fees and has also accumulated One Demerit Point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Sunday.
The cricketer admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction.
Note: For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.
It wasn't the best of the day for the senior bowler, as he gave away 53 runs off his four overs, and failed to pick up a single wicket. After giving away 24 runs in his first spell during the powerplay, the speedster returned to bowl at the death and was massively expensive, leaking a further 29 runs, taking his overall tally to 4-0-53-0 at the end of the first innings.
However, it did not hurt the Titans much, as they were able to chase down the target with 20 balls to spare in the second innings. The Shubman Gill-led side also had seven wickets in hand, where the captain himself hit the winning run, and remained unbeaten with an inspiring half-century. Washington Sundar's 49 runs were also helpful to make the chase comfortable.

Different feeling when you play at home ground: Mohammed Siraj
However, it was Mohammed Siraj who wreaked havoc in Hyderabad on Sunday night. The pacer not only stemmed the flow of runs, but also took four crucial wickets that also earned him Player of the Match award for an exceptional display with the ball. After receiving the award, the local boy said that he enjoyed playing on his 'home ground' and it is always a special feeling for him to be playing at this venue.
"When you come to your home ground, it is a different feeling. Family is also watching, and that also gives you confidence. (On his previous game in Bengaluru) I had played seven years there, there were ups and downs when I was (playing for RCB). The work I have done, in my bowling, fielding and mindset, is helping me. At the start (of the break), I could not digest. But then I was explaining to myself that I have so many things planned. It (selection for Champions Trophy) was not to be, but I concentrated on my mindset, my fitness.
Enjoying my bowling now. When you are not selected (for the Indian team), it does cross your mind (if you are good enough), but I wanted to be ready for the IPL. When you are executing exactly what you want to do, that is when you are on top. When the ball is listening to you and doing exactly what you want, that gives a different feeling, and it feels really enjoyable," Siraj said at the post-match presentation as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
