IPL 2025: Jofra Archer's 2013 tweet resurfaces as he bowls most expensive spell in IPL history

Jofra Archer's old post resurfaced on X (formerly Twitter) after he recorded the most expensive spell in IPL history, against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday, March 23.

Notably, Archer had posted "God save me on the March 21, 2013. The netizens were quick to dig out the post as the pacer gave away a whopping 76 runs in four overs against SRH, joining Mohit Sharma and Basil Thampi in the list of bowlers to concede 70 or more runs in a single innings.

The right-arm pacer was slightly unlucky as some of the runs he conceded were due to misfields while a few balls went to the boundary off the edges. However, he was predictable and conceded extras that cost his team. He bowled a solitary dot ball in his quota, which the least for a bowler in the IPL history.

The right-arm quick eventually finished with figures of 0/76, displacing Mohit Sharma from the spot. Mohit had conceded 73 runs in his four overs against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024.

Meanwhile, the record for the third most expensive spell in the IPL history belongs to Basil Thampi, who became the first bowler to concede 70 or more runs in a single spell when he was taken apart by RCB in 2018 while playing for SRH.

Left-arm pacers Yash Dayal and Reece Topley are fourth and fifth on the list respectively, who conceded 69 and 68 runs respectively in their spells.
