Priyansh Arya was provided a significant reprieve by Mukesh Choudhary after the latter stepped onto the boundary rope while executing the batter's catch during Match 22 of the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League between Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday, April 8. This peculiar incident occured on the second delivery of the 12th over.

A full and floated delivery by Ravichandra Ashwin was sliced towards long-off where Choudhary was stationed. The left-arm medium pacer held on to the ball. However, the backtracking attempt meant his left foot landed on the cushion. After all, it was all down to game awareness at that point of time.

The 24-year-old top-order batter ended up blazing nine sixes and seven fours to notch up his maiden ton in the IPL. The southpaw equalled the record for the joint-fourth-fastest ton in the marquee 20-over tournament, bringing up the exemplary achievement in just 39 deliveries. He was dismissed on 103 by Noor Ahmad, an over after the emerging talent brought up his hundred.

As far as Choudhary's performance with the ball is concerned, his couple of overs resulted in 21 runs being conceded. It was the second delivery of his spell that Choudhary made Prabhsimran Singh chop on the ball on his stumps to provide CSK with their first breakthrough of the evening. On the other hand, Ravichandran Ashwin snagged a couple of wickets during his very expensive four-over spell.

Apart from Arya, all the other batters from No. 2 to 6 endured a torrid time in the middle. Everone from skipper Shreyas Iyer to Glenn Maxwell were dismissed after registering single-digit scores. The five batters could muster only 23 runs among themselves. PBKS ended their innings on 219/6 at the end of their 20-over quota.
