Overview
Punjab Kings are all set to host Chennai Super Kings in Mullanpur, Chandigarh, in Match No 22 of the Indian Premier League 2025 on Tuesday, Saturday. Both sides are under pressure to bring their campaigns back on track.
PBKS had a good start to the season, winning two games in a row, but haven’t cracked their home conditions well, losing five straight matches at the new Chandigarh venue. In their previous outing, which was their first home game of the season against the Rajasthan Royals, Punjab was hammered to a 200-plus total. However, performances from Nehal Wadhera and Glenn Maxwell provided some hope, but eventually the side failed to cross the line, securing a 50-run defeat.
On the other hand, CSK is struggling with three defeats in a row, due to their misfiring departments and a lack of balance. They've already rotated through 17 players and all seven overseas options. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s demotion from the opening slot and Shivam Dube’s lack of runs have added to their woes. Notably, their powerplay strike rate (7.5) and overall run rate (8.1) are the lowest in the league. The five-time champions haven't had a season to remember so far and will look to make things right this time around.

Shaik Rasheed – Andhra Pradesh-born who hasn't made his IPL debut so far, can be a valuable addition to the XI. With the experienced batters' failing to deliver, the management could opt for a different approach.
