The 34th match of the IPL 2025 had a delayed start due to rain interruptions. As there has been consistent rainfall in Bengaluru over the past 5–6 days due to pre-monsoon winds, the match at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium could not begin at the scheduled time. The revised start time will depend on how long it takes to clear the water accumulation.
Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium boasts one of the best drainage systems in the world. Thanks to the SubAir system installed at the venue, it takes a little over 15 minutes for the ground to be ready even after heavy rain. Once the rain stops before the RCB vs PBKS clash, it should not take long for the match to commence.
As the toss was originally scheduled for 7:00 PM (IST), the rain delay meant it could not be held on time. Therefore, even though the scheduled start time for the match was 7:30 PM, the toss had not taken place by then. The cut-off times for the toss and the start of play will be crucial in determining the fate of the match.

IPL 2025: What if RCB vs PBKS at Chinnaswamy is washed out?
Revised cut-off time for start of match between RCB and PBKS
According to ESPNcricinfo, the revised cut-off time for the toss is 10:41 PM IST, while the cut-off for the match to begin is 10:56 PM IST. For a valid result, a minimum of five overs must be played by both sides. In all scenarios, the match must conclude by 12:06 AM IST the following day.
Depending on the amount of time lost, the number of overs in the match will be reduced at regular intervals. While the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium has the best drainage system among all Indian venues, rain is still beyond control. If the match cannot start on time, both teams will be awarded one point each, as there is no reserve day for Group Stage matches.
