Former Indian cricketer, Sridharan Sriram, has been roped in by Chennai Super Kings as assistant bowling coach ahead of IPL 2025. Sriram will join head coach Stephen Fleming, batting coach Mike Hussey, and bowling consultant Eric Simons.
Sriram comes in as a replacement for former CSK veteran, Dwayne Bravo, who joined Kolkata Knight Riders as mentor last year. The West Indian all-rounder was the bowling coach for CSK, the joint-most successful franchise in the IPL, during the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
Sriram brings an wealth of experience with him. He was Australia's assistant coach from 2016 to 2022. In August 2022, he became Bangladesh's T20 consultant in the buildup to the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup. The subsequent year (2023), he joined Lucknow Super Giants as assistant coach for IPL 2024. He also made his way back to Bangladesh as a technical consultant prior to the 50-over World Cup in 2023. It is also noteworthy to mention that he has worked as assistant coach at Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals).

As it has been over the years, CSK are once again stacked with frontilne spinners in the form of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Shreyas Gopal, and Noor Ahmad. The list does not end there, with Rachin Ravindra and Deepak Hooda serving as spin-bowling all-rounders.
As for the previous edition, CSK missed out qualifying for the playoffs. They ended up finishing fifth with seven victories and as many defeats in the 14 group-stage games under the leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad. They were level on points with Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the end of their league phase. However, an inferior net run rate meant they could not make it through.
IPL 2025 is set to commence on March 22. KKR are set to take on RCB at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The following evening will see CSK play Mumbai Indians in what will be both the sides' opening game.
