IPL 2025: Who is Aniket Verma? Everything you need to know about SRH hard-hitter

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are among the best teams in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. They have a solid batting line-up, followed by some outstanding bowlers. In the second game of the 18th season of the IPL, three players made their debut for SRH in their clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR): Ishan Kishan, Abhinav Manohar, and Aniket Verma.

Kishan wreaked havoc on the bowlers, scoring a scintillating century in his debut game for SRH. Meanwhile, Manohar was dismissed on a duck. As for Aniket, he did not get a chance to do much in the season opener against Rajasthan Royals as he fell for just seven runs off three balls.

However, he came out all guns blazing in the second fixture against Lucknow Super Giants at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on March 27. Verma belted five sixes to score a quick-fire 36 off 13 before falling to LSG leg-spinner Digvesh Rathi.

Who is Aniket Verma?

Aniket Verma, who hails from Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2025 auction for his base price of INR 30 lakh. Aniket is relatively new to cricket field, as he has only played one game for Madhya Pradesh in a T20.

He came to light in 2024 when he hit a century against Karnataka’s Under-23 team in the Men’s Under-23 One Day Inter-State tournament organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Later on, the young middle-order batter smashed a century in the All-India Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament in Tamil Nadu.

His knocks helped him gain the attention of SRH management, and they bought the uncapped player in the mega auction in November 2024. He has the ability to hit the ball quite effortlessly. Interestingly, Verma scored 46 runs from just 16 balls during a warm-up game of SRH. The young batter looked promising in the nets as well, which helped him make his debut for the team in the league.
