IPL 2025: Why is Phil Salt not playing in DC vs RCB Match 46?
The winner of the DC vs RCB match will be the table topper.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will miss Phil Salt's services in the match against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, on April 27. This will be an interesting game of cricket as the winner will be the table topper. Moreover, KL Rahul's celebrations in their previous encounter at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, will be in Virat Kohli's mind. So, a dramatic end to the game can be expected.
Toss Update
RCB skipper Rajat Patidar won the toss and chose to field first. The captain was happy with their first win at home in the previous match and looked forward to improving in the upcoming games. On the other hand, Axar Patel didn't feel bad about losing the toss as they were looking to bat first. Later, he spoke about his bowling performance in the last match.
Jacob Bethell comes in for Phil Salt; Faf Du Plessis comes back
Phil Salt misses this game against DC as he is down with a fever. Hence, RCB brought in Jacob Bethell. He might open alongside Virat Kohli in the match in Salt's absence.
Meanwhile, Faf du Plessis is back for the Delhi-based franchise after recovering from a groin injury. He was in fantastic form before getting injured. Now, DC have a solid opening pair and they'll look forward to destroying RCB's bowling attack in the powerplays.
What did the captains say?
Axar Patel, Delhi Capitals
That is an advantage too but if we had won the toss, I think we would have batted only and use the wicket in the second innings. In the last game, there was no dew but in the game against Mumbai, there was some dew. They (LSG) had two foreign batters at the top so I wanted to bowl against them. I was bowling with a good rhythm, the plan wasn't to bowl four overs in a row but I kept bowling well so I continued with it. Faf is back and the Impact player we will decide according to the situation.
Rajat Patidar, Royal Challengers Bengaluru
We will bowl first. The wicket is quite good to bat on and I don't think it's going to change too much and we like to chase. It's our first win at our home and we will try to continue playing good cricket. In every match, we are trying to improve, so we want to keep learning. Bethell has come in place of Salt.
