IPL 2025: Yashasvi Jaiswal's early wicket makes GT supporters roar in absolute delight

Much to the delight of the home crowd, Yashasvi Jaiswal departed for a low score during Match 23 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Sharing the new ball with Mohammed Siraj was Arshad Khan, who effected the breakthrough on the second delivery of his opening spell.

It was a pretty average delivery by the left-arm pacer which Jaiswal attempted on slicing on the up. All the left-handed top-order batter could find was Rashid Khan at deep backward point. Jaiswal attempted to use the away swing to get the ball where he wanted to but failed quite poorly at the end, as he dragged himself back to the dugout in utter disbelief.

Jaiswal's first three games of IPL 2025 resulted in scores of 1, 29, and 4. His 45-ball 67 against Punjab Kings came in a winning cause at the Mullanpur Cricket Stadium on Saturday, April 5. However, he copped a low score today. The southpaw would be keen on enhancing his performances as the tournament progresses into its middle phase.

RR are in pursuit of a 218-run target set by the hosts. Earlier in the evening, a majestic 82-run knock by Sai Sudharsan led the way for GT to post the target that they ended up posting on the board. A couple of 30s by Jos Buttler (36 off 25) and Shahrukh Khan (36 off 20) helped Sudharsan immensely. Rahul Tewatia ended up unbeaten on 24 off 12 deliveries.

The Sanju Samson-led side have won two games and lost as many in the four matches they have played this season. In fact, they started their campaign quite poorly with losses against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders. In case they end up overhauling the steep total set by GT tonight, they will significantly advance their position on the points table.
