Punjab Kings' new recruit Yuzvendra Chahal revealed two of the toughest batters he has bowled to. The leading wicket-taker of the Indian Premier League shared two batters whom he found "challenging" to bowl to.
He explained why he found Heinrich Klaasen and Nicholas Pooran as formidable batters to face. However, he also expressed that he has never gotten overawed by the stature of the batter he is up against.
“Heinrich Klaasen is one, Nicholas Pooran another. They have so much power that sometimes even the edges go for sixes. They are the ones who are challenging. I have gone for sixes against them and done well against them too. But, when I bowl, I don’t look at the name. When you look at their reputation, it will create pressure on you. I have the ball, they have the bat. I have to win the battle. I am not 6’5" or very broad. Mera sab kuch mind pe hai (my mind is everything for me). I always focus on that," stated Chahal, as quoted by Hindustan Times.
The fear of bowling on smaller grounds has gone: Chahal
The crafty leg-spinner also shared that the dimensions of the ground fail to have any effect on his thought process now.
“Ground dimensions have become a big factor because the wickets are also getting flatter, and bats bigger and powerful. But I love to take challenges. I have bowled at Chinnaswamy for eight years, so the fear of bowling on smaller grounds has gone," added Chahal.

With 205 wickets in 159 innings, Chahal tops the wicket-taking chart as far as the IPL is concerned. Most of his wickets came while representing Royal Challengers Bengaluru during the eight-year stint with RCB. IPL 2025 marks Chahal's 13th edition in the marquee T20 league. A lot will bank on him for the kind of season PBKS end up having.
