IPL auction set to have two sets of marquee players
The BCCI also told the franchises to suggest some names to add in the marquee lists.

The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) recently came forward and informed the franchises of the IPL (Indian Premier League) that two sets of marquee players will be available at the IPL 2025 mega auction. It is worth noting that the mega auction is all set to be held in Jeddah on November 24 and 25.
The BCCI has informed the franchises that two marquee lists consisting of 8–9 players in each set will be presented. Interestingly, only one set of marquee players was available in the 2022 mega auction. Furthermore, the 2014 and 2018 mega auctions had two sets of lists.
Several big names will be expected to make the marquee player list. The likes of Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, R Ashwin, Mitchell Starc, and Jos Buttler are expected to be present, reported Cricbuzz.
Each marquee player has also given themselves a base price of INR 2 crore, and as per expectations, by the end of the first two sets, the teams will have spent about 30-50 percent of their purse, looking to acquire at least two big names.

Furthermore, the order of the marquee list is yet to be released by the BCCI, and it is expected to be released in the next few days. A total of 1,574 names were circulated by the BCCI. Out of the 1574, Indian players account for 1165 registrations and 409 are overseas ones.
The BCCI has also asked the franchises to suggest some names that they want included in the marquee player list, the deadline for the same was November 12. With the IPL 2025 mega auction looming on the horizon, the excitement has been building for the fans as they gear up to see their favourite teams get the best players in the lineup.
