Ireland Women are taking on India Women in the ongoing ODI series. India managed to win the first ODI in Rajkot by six wickets. The one cricketer, who put up a fight when Ireland came out to defend the 239 runs target was Aimee Maguire. The left-arm spinner picked three wickets as India found what was an easy chase, a bit sloppy at one point in time.

The 18-year-old claimed the crucial wickets of Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol and Jemimah Rodrigues. She bowled eight overs and gave away 57 runs with one maiden. But the young bowler has been reported for a suspect bowling action after the Rajkot ODI. Following the report, she needs to get her action tested at an ICC-accredited testing centre within 14 days. However, she is allowed to continue bowling until the test results come out.

"The staff and players are rallying around Aimee, reassuring her that she will return with a stronger action and will continue to shine on the international stage for many years to come,” said Graeme West, the director of high performance at Cricket Ireland as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

“The experience and expertise that we possess within our High-Performance Coaching and Support Services at Cricket Ireland will provide Aimee with the care, support and guidance to deliver the remedial programme which will begin following the team's return from India,” he added.

It is worth noting that, Aimee made her international debut at the age of 17 in 2023.  She has played 11 ODIs and nine T20Is. Across both formats, she has 25 wickets to her name. She grabbed the headlines when she claimed 5/19 against England in an ODI last year. Ireland will play the second ODI against India on January 12 at the same venue.
