Sri Lanka Women are gearing up for their first-ever bilateral tour of Ireland this August. The tour will feature two T20 Internationals (T20Is) and three One Day Internationals (ODIs).

Fresh from their victorious Asia Cup campaign, the Sri Lankan team is riding high on confidence as they prepare to face Ireland. The tour, scheduled from August 11 to 20, will see the Sri Lankan squad departing for the Emerald Isle on August 6.

While this tour breaks new ground for the Lankan Lionesses, it represents Ireland's third bilateral series of the year, and first on home soil. The Irish team is undefeated in bilateral contests this year. They'll be up against a formidable opponent, though, who have an impressive record of 18 victories in 23 white-ball encounters played in 2024.

The head-to-head record heavily favours the visiting side, who remain unbeaten against Ireland in both ODI and T20I formats. However, their last encounter dates back to the 2017 Women's ODI World Cup Qualifier.

The tour will kick off with two T20Is in Dublin on August 11 and 13, providing an excellent opportunity for both teams to fine-tune their skills ahead of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024.

The action will then shift to Belfast for the three-match ODI series, commencing on August 16. These games hold additional significance as they form part of the 2022-2025 ICC Women's Championship cycle, offering valuable points in the quest for direct World Cup qualification.

For Sri Lanka, currently placed seventh in the ICC Women's T20I Team Rankings, this tour offers a chance to build on their recent success and climb up the ladder. Ireland, ranked tenth, will be looking to upset the odds and prove themselves against higher-ranked opposition.
