'Irrespective of the style they’re using, they’re playing winning cricket' - Daniel Vettori praises England ahead of Ashes 2023
England have won 10 games out of 12 they have played in last one year after adopting 'Bazball' style of play.
Furthermore, Vettori lauded England's 'Never-Die' attitude which has reaped them postive rewards over time. Hence, the veteran Kiwi is expecting some explosive gameplay by the hosts. He believes England will not back out from attacking the Australian bowling lineup.
"Irrespective of the style they’re using, they’re playing winning cricket and that’s the thing everyone gravitates towards. The fact that they’ve played so well over an extended period of time has been what’s so impressive. Brendon wouldn’t want to make the attention about himself, but he’s got this moniker going for him now. That’s Brendan since he came out of the womb he’s pretty positive. England keep coming and so you’ve got to anticipate that and not back off," Vettori was quoted as saying by Independent.co.uk.
Furthermore, Ben Stokes has warned Australia he has ‘worked his nuts off’ to get back to his 2019 best after he transformed the England side leading from the front. He is confident that careful management and a period on the sidelines at the IPL has brought his fitness back to the level of his golden summer four years ago and will allow him to play a “full role” as an all-rounder in Test matches.
While England warm-up for the Ashes with a one-off Test against Ireland, Australia will face India in the ICC World Test Championship final at the Oval, which is starting on June 7.
