PSL 8 exhibition match witnessed a blast
Earlier in February, during a PSL exhibition match between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi, a blast happened near the Nawab Akbar Bugti Stadium in Quetta. The explosion occurred in the Police Lines area, injuring up to five people. Notably, the match was played at the venue after Baloch fans requested that they want Quetta to host a PSL match.
Pakistan's top cricketers, including captain Babar Azam and former captain Shahid Afridi, were playing for Peshawar Zalmi. However, due to the explosion, the game was called off and all of the players were safely escorted to the dressing room. The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) later claimed responsibility for the attack and that they were targetting the security officials.
