It could be that Umran Malik had a fight with the SRH management: Virender Sehwag

After being one of the most successful players in the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad in the 2022 edition, it was expected that Umran Malik will be given more responsibility in the ongoing IPL 2023 as he was expected to prove his worth and get back into the national team after having a successful season.

However, in reality, the ace pacer played only seven matches for the franchise, picking up five wickets in the process before getting dropped.  Now, even though SRH are out of the competition, it was expected to field Umran for the final two matches, but unfortunately, in the match against RCB, the player was once again warming the bench.

Talking about the same, SRH skipper Aiden Markram after the match against RCB, mentioned that he doesn’t know the exact reason why Umran is not playing and that has created quite a stir on social media. Former India international Virender Sehwag spoke about the matter and stated that he may have had a heated argument with the management, and that is why the cricketer is not getting enough opportunities in the middle.

“I feel you can do anything behind the scene that is your life, if you are performing in the ground and you are working hard for it, that is important for me. When I was the coach or mentor, I believed that when you in the ground, I want to 100 per cent effort from you, off the field what you do, I have not meaning in that, that is your life. I truly did not understand what 'behind the scene' meant. It could be that he (Umran) had a fight with the management or maybe there was an argument, then that is bad. You were given an opportunity, you did not perform, now you have to wait until your next chance. You should shut the mouths with your performance,” Sehwag said while talking to Cricbuzz.

Notably, SRH are currently tenth on the IPL points table, and if they manage to win their final league game and DC lose, they can move to number nine. However, a lot depends on the net run rate.
