Australia and Sri Lanka are locking horns in the 14th match of the ongoing ODI World Cup at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on October 16.
Ahead of the clash, ace Australia batter, Steven Smith said that they pushed themselves into a corner after suffering defeats in the first two matches of the ongoing tournament and that's working well for them.
"Not overthinking much though we have lost two games. We put ourselves in a corner by the two sides, which has played really well. It is all about coming into the groove as soon as possible," Smith told Star Sports.
He went on to say that the team hasn't ticked all the boxes yet as they should rectify their mistakes in the remaining games to bounce back well.
"The boxes aren't ticked yet, which as the Australians, aren't a good sign. We haven't been able to pounce on the chances that we should try to hold on. We have to rectify and see how things go by," he added.

The 34-year-old further spoke about uncertainties in the conditions, stating that the team themselves have to find a way in difficult situations.
"The last time we were here, the pitch played two-paced. We were here last night. It was quite good to bat on during the evening. As the night progressed, the dew came in. Under lights, the ball swung a bit, and we have to take all these into consideration. The ball did nip around a bit last time during the match against South Africa. We need to apply ourselves if the dew does come in," he concluded.
Australia suffered a six-wicket loss against hosts India in their opening match in Chennai. Following the dismal start, their performance was not up to the mark in the second game against South Africa in Lucknow. The five-time champions currently sit in the bottom of the ten-team competition without a win.
