With the World Test Championship (WTC) Final just around the corner, both Australians as well as Indian players are on their toes. The magnitude of the game is such that advices as well as suggestions have been coming in from all around the globe.

Recently, the Indian wicketkeeper KS Bharat came up with an interesting revelation speaking to ICC. Bharat shared that before the all-important clash with Australia in WTC Final, he had received some useful tips from the former India skipper and legendary wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni. The 29-year-old said that during the Indian Premier League (IPL), he spoke to Dhoni and learned how to adapt to English conditions and what would work best for any wicketkeeper in these conditions.

“It was a very good conversation and there were a lot of insights from that,” the Indian wicketkeeper revealed speaking to ICC.

The wicketkeeper-batter also named the former Indian captain to be among the best wicketkeepers in these challenging conditions due to Dhoni’s awareness and also commended the plans that he adheres to while keeping.

“You need intent and passion to be a keeper, because keeping is a thankless job. You keep 90 overs in a Test day and you have to be concentrating ball by ball, so you have to accept the challenges and embrace it and be really passionate about contributing to the team,” Bharat said.

Bharat’s selection in the squad will be a big decision

The 29-year-old has only participated in four Test matches for India, all of which were played earlier this year in India against Australia. Bharat's proficiency with the gloves earned him a position in the lineup, but his performance with the bat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series was underwhelming.

But the other option for wicketkeeping in the Indian team is Ishan Kishan, who arrived in England after a decent IPL season. Kishan hasn't played for India in the longest format of the game, so if the southpaw gets a call up, he'd be making his debut in the championship match. The 24-year-old batter’s ability to win matches could entice India to start with him in the team for the WTC Final.
