It's my dream as well to know what it feels like to win the IPL: Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli hasn't been able to win an IPL trophy after playing for 16 years for RCB.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women (RCB-W) scripted history by winning the Women’s Premier League 2024 (WPL 2024) beating Delhi Capitals (DC-W) in the final of the tournament. As a result, the Smriti Mandhana-led side helped the RCB franchise clinch their first title in their 16-year-long history. Notably, RCB’s men’s team has failed to win an IPL trophy ever since their inception in 2008 despite being in the finals thrice in 2009, 2011 and 2016 respectively.
Despite their poor record in the tournament, the Bengaluru-based team has a massive fan following due to the presence of star India batter Virat Kohli in their team. Kohli was picked up by RCB through an Under 19 draft ahead of the first-ever season of the IPL in 2008 and the rest is history. The Delhi-born cricketer rapidly rose through the ranks and became one of the biggest superstars of the cricketing world.

However, despite enormous achievements on the cricket field, the former RCB skipper has failed to win an IPL title. Recently, speaking at the RCB unbox event at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Kohli congratulated the women’s team for winning the WPL and hoped to double up the trophies for the franchise by winning IPL 2024. The star batter further said that it’s his dream to know what it feels like to win the IPL.
I will try my best with my ability and experience to do it for the fans and the franchise: Kohli
"Hopefully we can double it up with the trophies. That'll be something truly special. I am always going to be here, try to be part of the group that wins it for the first time. I will try my best with my ability and experience to do it for the fans and the franchise. It is a dream of mine as well to know what it feels like to win the IPL,” said Kohli at the RCB unbox event.

Notably, RCB will start their campaign in the IPL 2024 with a game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the curtain raiser of the season on Friday, March 22 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Once again, RCB’s fans’ hopes will be pinned on Kohli to lead his side into the playoffs with his marvellous batting performances.
