"RCB let him go. It was a heartbreaking moment. He was a part of the furniture there and also their best bowler," De Villiers said.

Star Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is undoubtedly one of the best bowlers in the history of the IPL (Indian Premier League). Currently representing Rajasthan Royals in the tournament, Chahal became the first player in the tournament’s history to take 200 wickets.
The 33-year-old has been a stalwart for any side that he has played for, and it is worth noting that before RR roped him in the mega auction in 2022, Chahal used to play for Royal Challengers Bengaluru and was one of the most crucial parts of the team.
RCB’s decision to let go of Chahal was something that was not understood by the fans, and former South African cricketer AB de Villiers recently came forward to talk about how heartbreaking it was to see RCB let go of Chahal.
"RCB let him go. It was a heartbreaking moment. He was a part of the furniture there and also their best bowler. It was crazy that he got left out of that franchise. It's not easy looking at Yuzi go to 200 wickets and him not being a part of RCB,” De Villiers said in a video on his YouTube channel.
Yuzvendra Chahal continue to perform in IPL 2024
Despite being left from RCB ahead of the IPL 2022, Chahal has not stopped performing to the peak of his powers. The star spinner was picked up by Rajasthan Royals in the auction, and he won the IPL Purple Cap in his first season for the side, propelling them to the summit clash of the tournament.
Furthermore, he has continued to perform for the Royals as he is currently the joint-highest wicket-taker in the IPL 2024, tied with Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel for 13 wickets. Chahal’s brilliant performances have seen the Royals perform exceptionally well in the 17th edition of the season, as the inaugural champions are the current table toppers of the tournament.
With 14 points in eight matches, Rajasthan Royals are well on their way to making the playoffs of the tournament and look like real contenders for the title as well.
