Chennai Super Kings are currently occupying third place in the IPL 2023 points table under the leadership of their iconic skipper MS Dhoni. Although the veteran cricketer has shown tremendous form in this year's edition, the talks over his retirement from cricket have fueled up recently. Former CSK player and Dhoni's teammate Murli Vijay has asked fans to stop putting pressure on the legendary cricketer.

MS Dhoni took over the leadership role once again after Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja relinquished CSK's captaincy last year, following a turbulent start to IPL 2022. However, the team has looked more assured this term under Dhoni's tutelage despite a plethora of injuries in the CSK squad. Former Indian cricketer Murli Vijay has urged fans to give Dhoni space regarding the question of his retirement.

"It's an individual choice. It's high time people understand what a cricketer is going through. He's served our country for about 15 years. So we should be giving him space to take that call, rather than putting pressure by asking when he's going to retire. It's very harsh for y'all to ask this question. Everybody is asking about MS' retirement," Murali Vijay told Sportskeeda.

We have given our heart and soul to this game and it's a personal choice: Murali Vijay

Murli Vijay, who was a mainstay for the Indian Test team during his tenure, announced his retirement from international cricket earlier this year. He sympathises with his former skipper as he has retired recently and urged people to respect Dhoni's privacy after the commitment and dedication he has shown for the team over the years.

"It is so sad for me to sit and answer it. I have retired recently, so I know how it feels. We have given our heart and soul to this game and it's a personal choice, and I want to tell people to maintain that little bit of privacy," The former CSK opener added.
