The IPL (Indian Premier League) 2025 mega auction is all set to be held in Jeddah in the latter stages of November 2024. Several stars will be participating in the auction, but in a major development, it was recently announced that former England pacer James Anderson also registered for the auction for the IPL.

Having not played a T20 game since 2014, Anderson will make his return to the format after 10 long years. Furthermore, Anderson has never been a part of the IPL as well, but ahead of the mega auction, he has registered himself for INR 1.25 crore.

Currently the bowling coach of the English national team, it is worth noting that throughout his career, James Anderson has played 19 T20I matches; in the 19 games, the former pacer took 18 wickets and maintained an economy of 7.84 runs. It will be interesting to witness if any bids come Anderson’s way in the auction.

Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul register at highest base price

Apart from Anderon, there are several other stars who will be appearing in the IPL 2024 mega auction. Surprisingly, the likes of Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and many more stars were not retained by their respective franchises. Pant was let go by Delhi Capitals, whereas Shreyas Iyer was let go by Kolkata Knight Riders despite him leading the side to their third IPL title in 2024.

Ahead of the mega auction, the stars have been registered at the highest base price of INR 2 crore. Furthermore, Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal have also registered for a base price of INR 2 crore.

Furthermore, star England all-rounder Ben Stokes was missing from the 1574 players who have registered for the IPL 2025 mega auction. According to reports, Stokes’ absence comes due to England’s packed Test schedule and his preferring to represent the national team instead.
