Jason Sangha expresses gratitude to South Australia for 'saving' his career

 turned out to be the hero for South Australia with a match-winning knock against Queensland in the Sheffield Sheild finals. Sangha and Alex Carey's outstanding centuries in the second innings helped the team break the 29-year trophy drought. The duo's third-wicket partnership of 202 helped South Australia chase a record 270-run total, the highest-ever in a Sheffield Shield final.

After the victory, an emotional Sangha expressed gratitude towards South Australia's management for giving him a "second chance". It revamped his career and now he returned the favour with a trophy.

"I thought my career was over. South Australia gave me a second chance. I owe them everything, really. They have saved my career," Sangha was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

South Australia bought in Sangha in the previous season when he was dropped by New South Wales after he played in six seasons and 37 Shield matches. Sangha was fast-tracked to Shield cricket very early ,however, he was plagued by inconsistencies, averaging 26.63 in 64 innings for New South Wales.

However, he turned out to be a different player in this season as he amassed 704 runs at an average of 78.22 in just six games including three centuries, including the unbeaten 126 off 192, hitting 16 boundaries and two sexes in the second innings of the finals. On the other hand, Carey scored 105 runs off 132 balls, including nine boundaries and one six.
