In a heart-warming display of compassion and solidarity, Jay Shah, Honorary Secretary of BCCI, fulfilled the wishes of 12,000 patients battling major health issues such as Cancer and Thalassemia, along with their families. Even Blood Donors and Blood Donation Camp Organizers towards the cause were included in the special invitee list.
The experience has lit up the faces of these individuals with joyful smiles watching yesterday’s thrilling IPL 2024 match between the Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals, live at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This extraordinary gesture will go a long way in raising awareness about cancer and thalassemia, and the challenges faced by those living with this condition. It also provided the individuals with a much-needed day of fun and entertainment.
The excited happy faces were clearly visible, cheering for their favourite teams, leading to a unique atmosphere of joy and camaraderie never seen before at the stadium. This kind deed by the BCCI, under Shah, shows how cricket has the power to bring communities together and make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
GT taste another defeat at home
Speaking of the match no. 32 of the Indian Premier League, home team Gujarat Titans, who are already having a shaky start, tasted yet another defeat against Delhi Capitals. Being put to bat first, GT saw early trouble, losing skipper Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha in no time. The middle-order, too, followed suit. All-rounder Rashid Khan provided some hope with the bat, but it wasn't enough, the hosts were bundled out for 89.
After the bowlers, the DC batters had a simple task cut out, and their openers showed clear intentions right from the word go. Maximizing the advantage of field restrictions, the visiting side chased down the target with 57 balls to spare, which skyrocketed their net run-rate (NRR) on the IPL 2024 Points Table. With this win, Rishabh Pant & Co. moved to the sixth spot, while GT slipped to seventh.
