After a two-year wait, Joe Root is all set to make his return to Yorkshire for the County Championship 2024. He is most likely to feature against Gloucestershire later in the week, in the second round of the Championship. The star England batter has been announced in the 13-member squad and is set to feature in his first domestic appearance since The Hundred last year.

The cricketer missed Round One of the County Championship match against Leicestershire as he decided to take a break following a two-month tour to India. He will feature in the next four rounds of the championship. He will then take a break again and join the team for the seventh match against Northamptonshire.

Meanwhile, apart from Root, Harry Brook too is available for Yorkshire for the first five matches. The cricketer opted out of the tour against India and from the Indian Premier League due to personal reasons but is currently playing in the Championship. In the match against Leicestershire, the 25-year-old made 100* runs off 69 deliveries but the match ended on level terms.

After playing the first five matches in the Championship, Brook is slated to take a break with the hope of staying fit for the upcoming T20 World Cup, which is slated to begin on June 1. He has played 29 T20I matches so far in his career and has made 544 runs at a strike rate of 144.68.

When it comes to Root, the former England captain was not at his best during the five-match series against India, which the visitors lost 4-1. The cricketer would hope to use the County matches to get back to form as England are all set to host West Indies and Sri Lanka later in the summer and will then travel to Pakistan and New Zealand before the end of the year. Meanwhile, Yorkshire would hope to use the services of both these cricketers with the hope of qualifying for the Division I of the tournament.
