Somerset fast bowler Josh Davey has extended his term with the club, committing to a fresh one-year contract until the culmination of the 2025 season. Growing up in Bury St Edmunds CC and engaging in recreational cricket with Clevedon CC during his formative years, the 33-year-old initially joined Somerset on a summer contract back in 2014. Since he arrived at Taunton, he has made an impressive tally of 267 wickets across 127 matches.
Expressing his gratitude upon signing the contract, Davey emphasised Somerset's pivotal role in both his cricketing advancement and personal development. He further stated that the club will be now aiming for Somerset's first Championship victory while also aspiring to be the first team to retain the Blast.
"Somerset has played a huge role in my cricket development and also the development of me as a person. Somerset is one of the best places to play cricket in the country and the fan base is unbelievably passionate and knowledgeable. To be able to play a sport that I love in front of people who love the game so much is pretty special," Davey was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
