Cricket action is at its peak down under, with the third Test played between the hosts Australia and India ending in a draw. As a result, the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25) currently stands levelled by 1-1 margin. Meanwhile, there are two more Tests to go in the series, with the fourth Test slated to be played in Melbourne on ‘Boxing Day’, aka December 26. The last Test will be played in Sydney.

Keeping that in mind, the Australian selectors are yet to announce the playing XI for the upcoming Melbourne Test. However, it was revealed that the wicket-keeper batter, Josh Inglis, who fielded in place of the injured Josh Hazlewood during India’s first innings, was released from the squad and has flown back to Hobart from Brisbane on Thursday. Notably, Inglis will play in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL 2024) edition for the Perth Scorchers franchise.

On Saturday, Scorchers will lock horns with Hobart Hurricanes and Inglis most likely will be part of the playing XI. As per the schedule, the BBL schedule seems perfectly accommodating both domestic and international cricket. Scorchers are expected to play first in Hobart and then on Monday, another BBL fixture is awaiting in Melbourne.

Interestingly, as per ESPN, on the same day, the Australian side will be having an optional training session at the same venue. Hence, this would give some extra practice time for Josh Inglis as well. Apart from him, the talented all rounder Beau Webster was also earlier released to play in Perth.

England stars Duckett, Bethell set for their BBL debuts

Meanwhile, speaking of the BBL 2024-25, pacer Lance Morrise was recently signed by Perth Scorchers. Besides, Melbourne Stars bolstered their squad as star all rounder Glenn Maxwell looks all set to mark his BBL return after sustaining a hamstring injury on Friday while playing against Adelaide Strikers.

Another star player from England, Ben Duckett landed in Australia and is likely to make his BBL debut with Melbourne Stars. Notably, Ben was picked as a top draw in the overseas players draft, earlier this year. The explosive English batter will come in as the replacement for Joe Clarke after he sustained an injury on Wednesday. Adding to it, Duckett’s teammate and rising star batter Jacob Bethell will also mark his debut with Melbourne Renegades, when they face Hobart Hurricanes on December 19, in Geelong.
