Stuart Broad has been in immaculate form in the Ashes, having picked 18 wickets in four matches. The 37-year-old bowled some memorable spells throughout the English summer and proved that age is just a number. His bowling partner James Anderson, however, couldn't hit the ground running as the 40-year-old picked up three wickets in the first couple of Tests before being left out of the third Test. He returned to the playing XI at Old Trafford for the fourth Test and picked up a solitary wicket.

Former South African pacer Allan Donald, considered one of the fastest bowlers to have played the sport, recently shed light on the quality and longevity of the Broad-Anderson duo, who are currently playing in the fifth Ashes Test at Kennington Oval, London.

“Stuart Broad and James Anderson are just being sublime and I mean that in the red-ball format. It is unbelievable. They look after themselves really really well. I just think that those two guys thrive on be the best they can collectively be in a Test arena.” Donald told AB de Villers on latter's YouTube channel.

“They absolutely love Test format and what example they are being to any young fast bowlers around the world.

Donald also noted some special characteristics of the two seam bowlers that are helping them achieve success even in the twilight of their careers.

“Anyone wants to be Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad … gosh I guess lot of people would love to go and sit down with them and ask their secret behind this longevity. It’s just their hunger, desire, passion for Test cricket," Donald added.

Donald, who is the fast bowling coach of the Bangladesh men's team, opined that  Broad and Anderson have a competitive edge that makes them two of the greatest bowlers of all time.

“I think there is a competitive edge between them, They drive each other, they inspire each other and that’s how they get themselves to almost untouchable level. I have got nothing but utmost respect for those two guys,” Donald concluded.

All eyes will be on the experienced pace duo as England look to keep Australia down to a low score after being bowled out for 283 on the first day of the fifth Test in London.
