Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has signed a two-year contract with Middlesex, set to commence in the 2025 English summer. The acclaimed batter will perform for the London-based club in both the County Championship and T20 Blast, marking his third stint in county cricket following earlier associations with Gloucestershire (2011-12) and Yorkshire (2013-18).

Williamson will be playing at least 10 out of 14 group-stage matches in the T20 Blast and a minimum of five County Championship games in the latter part of the tournament. Additionally, he will turn up for London Spirit in The Hundred, making Lord’s his new shelter from May to September of this year.

Team Middlesex, who finished in third position in Division Two of the County Championship in 2024, will be looking forward for a high stance, and the Kiwi's mark is likely to buoy their campaign. The club, however, struggled in the Vitality Blast, finishing eighth out of nine teams in the South Group.

Expressing his eagerness about the shift, Williamson highlighted the club’s rich history and his excitement at playing in county cricket again after several years.

"I've played a bit of county cricket in the past, but not for a number of years now, so when this opportunity arose with Middlesex, it was a really exciting prospect. To play for a fine club with such a rich heritage is something I’m really looking forward to. Lord’s is one of my favorite grounds in the world for so many reasons, and the chance to call it home for the summer is special," said Williamson.

Director of Middlesex Cricket, Alan Coleman, expressed and elaborated the signing as a major ploy and anticipates a strong impact from the world-class batter.

"We are hugely excited about Kane joining Middlesex this summer. To secure one of the most talented players in the game is a real coup, and we can’t wait to see him walk out at Lord’s with the three Seaxes on his chest," Coleman said.
