Reports: Karnataka state cabinet set to approve international cricket stadium in Mysore, confirms Pratap Simha

The Mysuru International Cricket Stadium has been a long-awaited dream of the people, pending for quite some time. Recent sources confirm that the stadium might finally begin construction with support from the Karnataka state government.

There is already an iconic stadium in the state of Karnataka known as the Chinnaswamy, which has hosted some of the most memorable games in international cricket. However, reports suggest that former MP Pratap Simha has requested Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to approve the project through a social media post regarding the stadium’s development.

As per Star of Mysore, the land in question is stated to be Government kharab land, which has also been deemed suitable for constructing the stadium. It is safe to say that the dream of having a stadium in Mysuru seems to be finally coming true.

“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, you have convened the Cabinet meeting in Chamarajanagar, once part of the undivided Mysuru district. A fully equipped stadium was first planned at Sathagalli. However, due to a lake within that land, legal issues under the National Green Tribunal rules could arise. As an alternative, 26.31 acres near Huyilalu have been identified, and all required procedures are complete. Please grant Cabinet approval,” Simha posted on social media.

Simha urges cabinet approval, confirms land clearance

Furthermore, Pratap Simha has also stated that, as a former MP (Member of Parliament), he had already examined the land ownership, and there are no legal entanglements. He also mentioned that the KSCA is expected to invest INR 100 crore.

“When I was the MP, I relentlessly pursued the stadium issue. Today, my efforts are bearing fruit. There are no legal entanglements or ownership disputes with this parcel of land. The KSCA is expected to invest over ₹100 crore to bring the stadium to life — potentially positioning Mysuru as a key destination for international and domestic cricket,” Simha added.

Sources have confirmed that the stadium proposal is listed on the Cabinet agenda. The Mysuru Regional Commissioner has submitted a formal request to the Principal Secretary of the Revenue Department, seeking the transfer of 26.31 acres of Government land — Survey Numbers 312 and 313 — for the project.
