Virat Kohli was given out, leading to a controversial scene. Kohli expressed his frustration towards the umpire before leaving the field. The decision was based on a high full-toss, with Kohli batting outside his crease. Despite Kohli's review, replays confirmed the ball's trajectory was below the waist. Kohli remained visibly displeased even after returning to the dugout.

Coming to the match, KKR batted first and posted 222 runs in their allocated 20 overs, thanks to notable contributions from various batters, Shreyas Iyer and Philip Salt, who scored 50 and 48 respectively. Andre Russell and Ramandeep Singh added quick runs towards the end, scoring 27 and 24, bolstering KKR's total. Yash Dayal and Cameron Green stood out for RCB with two wickets each.

In the chase, RCB lost two early wickets, with Virat Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis departing early after scoring 18 and seven runs. At the time of writing, RCB have reached 100 runs in nine overs, with Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar at the crease, batting on 53 and 27 respectively.

Coming to the match, RCB opted to bowl first and made three changes in their playing XI, reintroducing Green, Siraj, and Karn Sharma. Before the game, captain Faf du Plessis expressed a preference for chasing, citing the ground's tendency to favour it historically. Despite usually preferring to bat first in hot conditions, he acknowledged a drop in temperature the previous day. Confident in their batting lineup and the return of key players, he believed RCB could regain momentum and utilize their firepower effectively.
