The ongoing mega auction for the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Jeddah, has been a remarkable event up until now. There have been a plethora of players who were released by various franchises ahead of the event who were snapped up for whopping totals.
One such high-profile player in the form of KL Rahul was ultimately acquired by the Delhi Capitals for INR 14 crore. In the same regard, the former captain of England and ex-captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Eoin Morgan, in a recent discussion, praised DC for their preference and the cunning move in totality. He pointed out how the Delhi-based IPL franchise appreciated the real value of Rahul for the way he can juggle around with multiple roles quite efficiently.
“I'm not quite sure about RCB, the elephant in the room. It's great business by DC, you know, they've capitalised on what a moment can mean in the heat of the moment, and they've stood up. They've recognised great value, and they've come to the table,” said Morgan during a conversation on JioCinema.

"You know, they had their Right To Match card out for Rishabh Pant, realised that 27 crore was too much, but almost backed into a corner and go toe-to-toe with RCB for KL Rahul, who is not a 14 crore player. I totally agree with Robbie (Robin Uthappa). He should have gone for 20, 21 and 22 for what he brings to the table," the former KKR skipper continued.
"He's without doubt going to be captain as well. I have no doubt about that, and it leaves them a great pot of money to invest. You would say in that bowling line to support Mitchell Starc,” Morgan concluded.
Interestingly, Lucknow Super Giants broke the bank for Rishabh Pant and acquired him for a colossal INR 27 crore. With that, he became the most expensive player in the history of the IPL up until now. Harry Brook, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Mitchell Starc, and T. Natarajan are the notable players, whom Capitals have enlisted up until now.
